OUR STORY

TOASTIES first launched in September 2016 from a small kitchen tucked away in a Lagos boutique shopping mall. We took orders from a sliding window and had only two toastie options on our menu! Over the years we have taken our customers’ feedback and thus been able to grow the company into a brand they can trust and love.

Since the beginning, TOASTIES has understood the importance of sourcing the freshest high quality ingredients available locally. Our daily specials such as our tortillas and bao buns are made from scratch in our kitchen, and we strive to put together the best toasties, salads and specials in town!

It certainly helps to have a classically trained chef on our team! Our founder and Executive Chef, Eka Obaigbena, trained at New York’s French Culinary Institute before working at Michelin starred restaurants in NYC and Madrid. In 2012, she launched her food blog, Biscuitboneblog, where – armed with the tagline “Playing with African food” – she would share her culinary experiments fusing traditional West African recipes with cuisines from around the world. Inspired by a Heston Blumenthal cooking show, she created her signature Shaki toastie (a medley of tender tripe, bufala mozzarella and fresh basil), which quickly propelled her into the sandwich business!

Today, TOASTIES continues to keep our customers on their toes with out-of-the-box sandwich creations that have become synonymous with our brand. In addition to our signature toasties, we encourage our customers to get creative and build their own custom orders from our ingredients list. Each order is carefully packaged in our eco-friendly containers to be enjoyed conveniently at any time of day.
